Afghanistan has faced tremendous challenges in the last six years since the fall of the Taliban, among which has been a series of significant public policy failures. Afghanistan’s Center for Research and Policy Studies (ACRPS) is convinced that one of the most important reasons for such failures is that too many policy decisions are based on the analyses of foreign experts who cannot appreciate the unique difficulties that characterize Afghanistan. Modern skills of analysis and outside expertise are necessary for Afghanistan’s development, but they must be combined with a domestic analytic capacity that is able to come to grips with the complexity of the local environment. That is the motivation behind our slogan; “donor analysis is a poor substitute for domestic analytical capacity”
Afghanistan’s Center for Research and Policy Studies (ACRPS) is an independent, nonpartisan, not-for-profit institution providing impartial Afghan inputs and alternative viewpoints for policy makers in Afghanistan. An independent, nonpartisan, not-for-profit institution headquartered in Kabul, Afghanistan, ACRPS is dedicated to the study and analysis of political, social, and economic policies, and their direct impact on development in Afghanistan.
